Windows 10: Reinstall Windows 10 + Keep 3rd party apps

Long story short reinstalling Windows 10 is my current best bet to restoring 'Photos' and other core Windows apps which no longer open / restart / reinstall / delete (I've tried everything). I'd just like to know before I do it, maybe someone has experience... If I opt for the 'keep applications' option, it definitely won't mess with these apps? It's only that I installed a lot of things from Git etc. if it went awry that would not be good news!

Also if I 'keep apps' will it even reinstall the core Windows apps - or maybe keep Photos in it's broken state! ^^,

Windows Mail and 3rd party messages

Hi,

Please assist me with the following information related to this issue:

• May I know what exactly do you mean when you say "download messages from 3rd party into Windows Mail"?
• Are you referring to Mail app on Windows 10? If so, are you able to receive any send email via Mail app?

If you are facing issues with Mail app, I suggest
run the in-built Windows Store app troubleshooter and check. Follow the steps:

• 
  Press Windows Key + X..
  
• 
  Click on Control Panel.
  
• 
  Select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  On the left pane, click on View All.
  
• 
  Click on Windows Store apps to run the troubleshooter.

Most painless way to reinstall windows 10?

Would be nice if this method was officially supported. Refresh Windows without losing any data or programs. I wouldn't mind if it would reset core Windows settings, services and stuff, for as long as it keeps 3rd party ones intact. Would still be faster to reinstall those 3 problematic apps than doing it for all of them.

 

Password (or PIN) Protecting 3rd Party App in Windows 10

Hi Pixelme ... great question, but unfortunately there is no way that Microsoft provides to password protect 3rd party apps.

The only thing I can suggest is find out from the 3rd party app if they have that capability. So for your example with Kindle, contact Kindle and see if there is a way.

It would be the 3rd party app that would develop that capability not Windows\Microsoft.

Now you can use bitlocker which encrypts your drive if you are concerned with data being compromised if your machine gets lost or stolen.
