Windows 10: Reinstall Windows 10 to another hard drive

My first post so I hope I am in the right place. The Hdd that contains my windows !0 is playing up. I have a spare Hdd on my computer, is it possible to reinstall to the other drive. My current Win 10 was a free upgrade from Win 7.

Thanks so much. So I will need another computer, an adapter from the hard drive to USB, and then reinstall Windows 10 onto the internal hard drive? Will my windows 10 activation key be expired if I repair the image on another computer?

 

Reinstall Windows 10 Pro

My hard drive fail on my Windows 10 Pro HP Desktop and I got another hard drive to reinstall Windows 10 Pro on. I have the latest Windows 10 image on a USB key and I been trying to reinstall Windows 10 to hard drive. Now Windows Setup cannot install to
this hard drive because it is formatted with an unsupported version of the NTFS file system. I have not installation disc and I am using a USB Key to do the install? Please Help!!

 

Hi, you can swap the drive and reinstall with impunity. Activation should be automatic.

Note: if you were in the habit of using disk imaging (e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + external disk + its boot medium) you could have restored exactly what you had when the image was created to your new HDD - OS, programs, data, settings, everything.

Strongly recommended approach here. Several other such programs available.
