Windows 10: Reinstalled Windows 10 Pro trying to fix touchpad problems, got new problem with Search in...

I reinstalled Windows 10 Pro 22H2 trying to fix touch pad problems! After the reinstall the Search Icon and the Search box in the Taskbar would not work. Icon did not open Search and could not type in Search box! Finally found the problem in "Settings, Personalization, Lock Screen" dialog. The box for Get fun facts and tips from Windows and Cortana was uncheck. Turned it on and presto Search Icon and Search box both worked!By the way, the reinstall did not fix the touch pad problems!

If your touchpad isn’t working, it may be a result of a missing or out-of-date driver.

On Start , search for Device Manager, and select it from the list of results. Under Mice and other pointing devices, select your touchpad, open it, select the Driver tab, and select Update Driver. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, look for one on the device
manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

If those steps didn't work, try uninstalling your touchpad driver: open Device Manager, right-click (or press and hold) the touchpad driver, and select Uninstall. Restart your device and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

If that didn't work, try using the generic driver that comes with Windows. Here's how: in Device Manager, right-click (or press and hold) your touchpad driver > Update driver software... > Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of
device drivers on my computer, select HID compliant mouse, select Next, and follow the instructions to install it.

If changing your driver doesn’t help, there may be a problem with the touchpad itself. Contact your PC’s manufacturer for help.

What is the Windows 10 version and Build installed? (Type
winver in Windows search/Run command)



Meanwhile, we would suggest you to reinstall the touchpad driver.

1. Press Windows +X and select Device Manager.
2. Search and expand Mice and other pointing devices.
3. Right click on the listed driver one by one and select Uninstall device.
4. Check the box beside Delete the driver software for this device and click
   Ok.
5. Follow the onscreen steps and restart the PC.
6. Upon restart the touchpad driver should install automatically, in case it doesn’t install, then go to the
   
   Dell website and install the touchpad driver for this model.
