Reinstalled windows and is incredibly slow when hard drive is plugged in

My set up was Windows 10 on a western digital blue solid state drive and also a Seagate ST 1000DM003 hard drive for my personal files and most programs. I backed up my files then proceeded to go to settings > update and security > recovery > reset PC. I set it to remove everything.

After this was done and windows was reinstalled on the SSD, I noticed the computer was incredibly slow. I rebooted and it took me 15 minutes just to get back in, and even then there we serious problems, not even being able to use file manager.

I unplugged the SATA cable from the HDD and rebooted and everything was fine. Before this, the hard drive seemed totally fine, so I'm shocked by this sudden sharp decline and bewildered that the HDD would interfere with windows even though the windows OS itself isn't installed on it. If I recall I bought it about 2016.

    :)

  2. Overclock your hard drive!!!

Heres a much easier hack that I realized quite a few years ago that really does work!

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Hard drive with molex power connection.
    • PSU with more than 1 strand that has molex plugs on it.
    • Wire strippers, soldering iron if you're fancy, electrical tape if you're not.
    STEPS:
    • Take the strand of connectors from your PSU, and decide which one will be the donator for this overclocking adventure.
    • Cut the yellow and orange cables, then twist them together.
    • Find the power connector you've chosen as the overclocking connector, and release the orange cable from the connector. Now use your preferred method to bind them together, then place it back together.
    • Plug in a drive and feel the speed!
Congratulations! You've just overclocked your hard drive!

  3. Slow hard drive

I don't know how it slows it down, I just know that windows goes crazy if I have my USB drive in my computer while trying to boot windows *Laugh . And I got the list trick off of Wazzledoozle.

Reinstalled windows and is incredibly slow when hard drive is plugged in

    Windowed Hard Drives

On the contrary, showing off "slow tech" by adding a window to a hard drive is a "dumb" idea. Do you really want to be showing off a whole "7200-10000 RPM of power" or would you rather show off a plain SSD drive? (If you really desire to "show off")

Adding any window to any drive is just stupid. I just suggested an easier option for you since manufactures don't put windows on the latest hard drives.
