    Reinstalling Office 365?


    One of my friends has somehow lost Office 365 after a mishap with a virus and I want to help her get it back. I helped her buy and install it a couple of years back but I remember very little about what we did to acquire it and know nothing about what we need to do to restore it. She's running Windows 10.

    I'm guessing we need to track down a license key then find a download link on the Microsoft website somewhere, then reinstall from the link, providing the license key during the install but I could be way off. Can anyone enlighten me?

    You probably meant the 'product' key.

    You didn't say which version of Office you have.

    Here are
    instructions for Office 365 and Office 2016    .

    Here are instructions for Office 2013.

    For earlier versions of Office, insert the installation DVD and enter the product key when prompted. Note that versions of Office prior to 2013 are not supported on Windows 10, so they may or may not work properly.

    PS: The name of the operating system is Windows 10. Microsoft is the name of the company that created it.

    Thank you *very* much for your assistance! That should get the job done Reinstalling Office 365? :)

    I'll leave the "solved" box unchecked for now until we've had a chance to actually complete the reinstall, just in case there are hiccups of one kind or another and I need to ask followup questions. I hope to get to that tomorrow.

    What did you have in mind? I know she's already had the machine cleaned at a store. I was going to run MalwareBytes on it too just to be sure they didn't miss anything. Would you do any more?

    Just thinking - did they identify what infection it was she had?
    Sorry, I don't trust too many places to know what they're doing. I've seen shops clean a computer, and then never delete the infected restore points. Just sayin'. *Wink

    Good point. It would never have occurred to me to delete the infected restore points so it may not have occurred to them either. I'll have to ask her when I speak to her tomorrow.
