Windows 10: Reinstalling Win 11 on new SSD?

I got a new SSD and want the computer to boot off it. I selected "Reset this PC" but it installed on the hard disk again. I was not given a choice where to install the OS.Peter

Install of Win 10 from old HDD to new SSD

My PC has a WD 1 T HDD as the primary drive with Win 10 installed. There is also an 2nd older WD HDD for data storage purposes if ever needed - unlikely.

I recently bought a new 500 GB SSD drive. I would like to install my WIN 10 on the new SSD using it as the primary drive.

To install on the new SSD, would I unplug the WD 1 T HDD and install the new SSD drive on the MB and then install Win 10 on the SSD.

After the above, I assume I then reconnect The WD 1 T HDD. With the OS on the New SSD, will the apps and programs that are on the WD HDD operate or will I have to reinstall them on the new SSD As well how do I delete Win 10 from the HDD - do I simply delete the files or delete the partitions or just don’t bother. The WD HDD a was not even close to being full and was bought for faster access.

Any suggestions on how to get the new SSD to work properly and windows off the old WD HDD so it does not interfere with the new SSD would be appreciated.

 

Install Win 11 to external M.2 SSD via laptop

Hello everyone, I purchased a new NVMe M.2 1TB SSD and my old 512gb SSD is in the laptop. I have a SSD reader by which I can connect the new SSD externally to the laptop. The new SSD is clean and I need to install Win 11 on that so that I can replace my laptop SSD with the new one. Can someone guide me through the steps for the same?

I have 2 SSDs, one in the laptop and one connected externally via the reader. Can it be done with these two options or do we need an additional device for the installation.

 

Win 11 Activation after change of SSD

That was how I understand it in terms of installing Windows. Following their instructions I downloaded the files as per screenshot and copied the files from the link to a SATA SSD and I tried to install. The computer was just looking for a bootable device.

I then tried installing Win 11 from a bootable USB to the SATA SSD and it didn't like it either saying machine wasn't suitable. Which is nonsense because the machine was running Win 11 and the SATA SSD had been in an alternative machine running Win 11.

The problem I have now is I cannot format the NVme to clean instal and I'm not sure which key to enter even if I could. Guess I could create a new partition and then delete it once I have reinstalled? I reckon the WFG6P?
