Hey guys, I'm planning to get a new SSD and install windows on it as my current boot drive is failing. The boot drive is a HDD and it has 3 partitions including the C:/. What I want to know is how to format my old hdd. Should I just remove the hdd ,put ssd and install windows on it and then format the old boot drive through file explorer or can i format the old boot drive through windows bootable media and then do the installation process on ssd as normal?. Which way is the better way?. I dont want to keep other partitions from except C: from the old boot drive so I only want to format it completely. Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

I would suggest you to update your storage controller driver.

Method 1: Update Storage Controller Driver

    Follow the steps.

    • Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
    • Expand the Storage Controller.
    • Right-click on the Storage controller Driver
      and select Update Driver Software.
    • Wait for sometime and check if the issue persists.
    • Restart your system.
Method 2: Uninstall and then reinstall Storage Controller driver from the Manufacturer's Website

    Follow the steps.

    • Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
    • Expand the Storage Controller.
    • Right-click on the Storage controller Driver
      and select Uninstall.
    • Now, go to the Manufacturer's website and download the latest storage controller driver.
    • Once the download is complete, double-click and run the setup file to complete installation.
    • Restart your system.
Hope this helps. Please respond if you have further related queries.

    Regards,

Reinstalling windows 10 fresh into a new storage device

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
