Reinstalling Windows 10 on SSD and wiping data on HDD

I recently added an SSD to my PC which already had a 2 TB HDD. Everything works perfectly fine, but I want to install a fresh copy of Windows 10 onto my SSD and use that as my boot drive and wipe all the current data from my HDD. (I don't want to do data
migration.) How would I go about doing this?

Hi Jerry, you can reinstall Windows 10 at any time and it will not cost you anything !

Remove the HDD before installing Windows 10 onto the SSD, there is a bug in the installation process, whereby the boot sector can end up on the wrong drive, and then you would not be able to wipe the HDD . .

    Click this link:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

to download the Media Creation Tool (Click on Download Tool Now), with that you can download the latest Windows 10 ISO (Select Create Installation Media for Another PC), you can create a bootable USB flash drive (min 8GB) using that tool

Then, Boot your PC from the Installation Media you just created (change Boot Order in your BIOS) to begin installing Windows 10

Since you previously had Windows 10 installed and activated on that PC during the installation process skip the steps which ask for a product key and select the option 'I am Reinstalling Windows 10 on this PC', and activation will not be an issue, your PC will
have a digital entitlement stored on the Microsoft Activation Servers

Make sure you install the same Edition of Windows 10 (Home, Pro . . . etc.) you previously had installed to avoid Activation issues

Reinstalling Windows 10 on SSD and wiping data on HDD

jumping on the back of this, as i have a question.

im about to do the installation of windows onto ssd, all set up with boot media etc and understand the process, my only question is do i definitely need to wipe the old HDD after? im a little paranoid im gonna lose some hidden photo or video somewhere (had
pc for years so kids growing up, wedding stuff etc). would still having old windows files on hdd interfere with the running on windows from ssd?
