Windows 10: reinstalling windows 10

hello

when you need to reinstall windows 10 and you got windows 10 via the free upgrade, do you have to first install windows 7/8 to then upgrade to windows 10 or can you just install windows 10 cleaning and then just type in the existing key to activate.

also do this work the same way for pro editions.

OK, so i figured it out myself

Found the logfile in "C:\Windows\Minidump".

You need the Windows Development Kit to open it and a bit of googling to understand it.

Found out that a Daemon driver caused an error. Removed Daemon but this didn't solve it. (ps: Daemon itself worked normally).

I let hibernate my computer again and found another error with sptd2.sys: SCSI Pass Through Direct layer

More google and ended up on the duplexsecure site. Downloaded the W10 version and voila: problem fixed.

For the Windows support team: It would be really helpfull if you could pass problems to a more skilled helpdesk who can do more than proposing the standard solutions in case those won't work.

Windows 10 Unexpected shutdown on start up

OK, so I also found out that this occurs when sleepmode (for me after 3 hours) changes into hibernate mode.

Seems like the going into hibernate and/or starting up from HIbernate results in a shutdown. In safeboot it works perfectly.

Anyone any idea how I can figure out where it goes wrong. Is there a way to log this (I couldn't find it in bootlog)

 

NO, just install 10. When asked for key, click "I don't have the key" or "skip this step". Windows will be activated via digital entitlement

just I am trying to reinstall windows 10 pro for a friend, but I didn't and they don't have the pro disk. so I tried using my windows 10 home disk and entering the pro product key that I got from hirens boot cd as it wouldn't boot. but when I try to enter it, it just says it is wrong.

 

As with most versions of Windows one can't mix a key from one version with a different version. As suggested, don't enter a key and the install will check the database to verify the digital license.

 

Keys are tied to Windows versions. If you try to use a home disk and a pro product key, it won't work. You should visit the Download Windows 10 page, and use the Media Creation Tool ("Download tool now") to grab the right version of Windows 10 (Pro, that is) and build a bootable installer on a flash drive. Then your key will work, for sure!

thanks for the help, downloaded the windows 10 englishinternational and when i tried to install i got an error saying installation cancelled due to corrupt file. so i downloaded the iso for english which was the us version and installed it and then just installed the UK langauge pack and it works now, activated automatically as soon as it got desktop as i went straight to the activation settings page and it was already done via digital signature.
this is now solved
