    Reluctant HP Untility

    Hello,

Just migrated from Win 7 to Win 10. Several small problems, some just annoying, others more consistent, which get slowly sorted out.

Most of my programs, even very old ones, survived - some after studious compatibility tweaking. However, there is one that has proven to be extremely difficult. It's a utility accompanying Hewlett Packard printers called "Solution Centre". With it, you can access various properties of the printer (like copying, faxing and quite a decent scanning feature, including OCR and whatnot).

However, on the migration to Win 10, that utility lost all of its possibilities (except checking the ink levels of the printer). HP admitted so much on their site and pretended one should wait for a specific Win 10 update, then uninstall and reinstall the utility. Asking for help at HP resulted in the same suggestion, with links to the latest install for the utility.

So far so good - or rather, so far so bad. Because apparently that famous Win update never was released, while uninstalling then reinstalling the utility had no effect at all, except losing even more features (and that after its prehistoric installation procedure). After several complaints at HP, they now hide behind the fact that the warranty of the printer has elapsed - and this while that has of course nothing to do with the printer, but with an incapacity of HP to adapt their programs to Win 10, something which they continue to admit readily.

So, if anyone was confronted with the same or a similar HP problem, please let me know. I can manage things with the Windows Fax and Scan utility, but still: the scanning capabilities of that "Solution" app were more extensive, to name but one thing.

    Looking forward to a reply...

    :)

Stuck on Keyboard Selection following automatic update on Windows 10

    Bump.

I now have a second computer with a pending update to Windows 10. I am reluctant to proceed until I clear the problem on the HP desktop. It was an update to Windows 10 that seems to have introduced the problem.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Note that I have no keyboard functionality, so no option to boot to Safe mode, edit the startup sequence, etc.

  3. Sleep/Shutdown issues on windows 10

I'm using a HP desktop... still no sign of anyone coming up with a solution for these! HP don't seem to want to know about it, since it's a few years old, and I can't see any 'IMEI' drivers listed so there doesn't seem to be any need to update them! (Or
are they only used in Laptops, in which case that's no good anyway).

I've gone back to W7 on the advice of the MS tech who I contacted directly. He suggested I try a clean install, but I'm reluctant to do that until I know for sure that the sleep issue won't come back!

    What model is your printer?
Also have you used the disc that came with the printer?
    If not then try this
    Uninstall the software
Then insert the disc and when told connect the printer
Then go to their site to see if they have updated drivers

    Suggestion only :

    1. UN-install your HP printer entirely.
    2. Use this link below and download the current Windows 10 ISO file.
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

    3. Follow this simple instructions to do a Repair Install. otherwise know as in-place upgrade install.

Download the Media Creation Tool and run it.
Then select Create installation media for another PC
That will begin downloading the ISO file to your computer.
When download is completed, RIGHT click at the ISO > click Mount > click Setup.exe.
That will begin installing Windows 10.
You have the choice of keeping settings, files and apps, or keeping nothing.
    No product key is required.
    Activation will be automatic.

    4. After that, re-install your HP printer.
See if the Solution Center will work properly this time.
