    Remote computer freezes when closing RDC since Windows 10 1903 update


    After updating to Windows 10 1903 I found my Remote Desktop Connections would freeze the remote computer when I closed the session (using the X as I usually do). I would then have to reboot the remote computer in order to log into it either locally or remotely. After many trial and error tweaks I found that if I log off the remote connection before closing the session, it continues to operate correctly. Is this an intentional change or some kind of error?

    What would be the root cause that Windows 10 Enterprise Tech Preview freezes every time I try to reconnect from one day to the following on Remote Desktop Connection using Hyper-V on the server side?

    Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

    Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:


    1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):
    2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:
    3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:
    4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):
    Try the above, post back how it went.

    Remote desktop in window 10 cannot access computer having windows 8


    It is exactly as you said. Windows 10 Home and Single Language editions can only be used as remote host, computer hosting the remote session (connecting to another computer over remote desktop).

    PRO or above is required for remote client, computer to which remote host is connecting.
