  1. Remote connections speed limited to about 1.5 MB / s

I've been struggling in my company setup for a while with a strange problem. After diagnosis, the problem seems to be caused by Windows 10. My setup Windows 10 Pro machine serving as a file repository for workstations in LAN and for remote connections let's call it a server. Asus ZPA-U8 server board, Xeon E5 20603, 24GB RAM, 500GB SSD for system + 2 x RAID 0 2TB Gigabit network with Netgear GS716T switch and Funbox 6 router Internet connection with public IP: Orange Fiber 1000 Mbps / 300 Mbps Usage scenario We are a graphics studio, so the repository usually contains large graphi

    Remote Desktop Connection problems

Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

    1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):
    2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:
    3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:
    4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):
Try the above, post back how it went.

  3. New Windows Install Limiting Download Speed to 5 mbs on Ethernet

After struggling with the Windows Store and constantly having failed downloads, very irregular download speeds, and just your everyday Windows Store issues... I decided to reset my Windows installation. The new installation
will not download anything faster than 5.2 mbs. I'm running on a
wired network with the previous Windows installation (hours before) working fine for months.

I've tried at least the following (and in various combinations):

    • Resetting network
    • Resetting Router/Modem (one unit. Unplugging, pressing reset button etc)
    • Updating LAN driver
    • Uninstalling the LAN driver and using the Windows Default
    • Disabling Windows Defender (no other antivirus running)
    • Disabling Windows Firewall
    • Testing in Safe Mode with Networking
    • Changing the network to metered and unmetered.
    • Changing the Speed & Duplex setting from Auto to 1 gbs
    • Disabling QoS
    • Running various CMD commands found in any number of support forums (such as: ipconfig/flushdns, netsh int reset all, netsh winsock reset etc)
    • And everything else I can find online

    Does anyone else have ideas?

I just reset Windows and started trying to download stuff, and that's it. When the network was limited I updated the LAN driver from the MSI website (I have an MSI mainboard), and when that didn't work I started trying all the random stuff above.
Resetting the modem did once give me temporary higher speeds... Does that grantee that it's a modem issue?

I should mention that all downloads are limited whether I'm downloading through Windows Store, Chrome, Edge, Adobe Creative Cloud Installer and Steam.

Also cool, I still canNOT download stuff from the Windows Store. Fun times in Windows land.

    help to remote connect

No need to setup a permanent remote connection for FB add-on's. I'd suggest Team Viewer. It's free and will allow you to access his pc safely and take control.
