The Remote Desktop app keeps crashing.

In a worst case scenario, if you try to restore your RD session after the RD app crashed, it immediately crashes again:

2021:

• RemoteDesktopIssue211122

You can only hope you have another tool, like TeamViewer to get your session back.

If that's not the case, you will have to be able to remotely logoff the remote machine.

1. First, check the session number with qwinsta (= query session):

SESSIONNAME USERNAME ID STATE TYPE DEVICE

services 0 Disc

rdp-tcp#0 username 12 Active

console 14 Conn

rdp-tcp 65536 Listen

Write down the session ID of the user, in this case 12.

2. Then use the logoff command as follows:

And then start a new RD session and pray it doesn't crash again...

It's now end 2021, Corona and Covid are still here, so a lot of us are still remotely from home depending heavily on Remote Desktop, which keeps crashing, even in Windows 11.

In a worst case scenario, if you try to restore your RD session after the RD app crashed, it immediately crashes again:
