  1. Remote Desktop Connection causing crashes

I do not own some of the software I need to complete projects, so we are allowed to remotely connect to university desktops in order to work. However, as stated in the title, every time I have tried to connect has caused my computer to crash BSOD. The amount of time I have between connecting and crashing ranging from 5 minutes to 90 minutes seems to be dependent on which desktop I connect to, but I have no clue what could be causing the crashes. My current computer is on Windows 11 22H2. I have an older desktop as well that's on some version of Windows 9, and it's able to remotely connect w

    Remote Desktop Connection problems

Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

    1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):
    2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:
    3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:
    4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):
Try the above, post back how it went.

    Remote Desktop Connection causing crashes

Double-Click causes Remote Desktop to crash...

We have a remote work-station that crashes in Remote Desktop when a file is double-clicked or opened in file explorer of the remote desktop. Can you advise and provide possible causes and solutions to this problem?

    To clarfiy:

    1. Login into remote work-station using remote desktop

    2. Open file explorer

    3. Double-click, or right click on a file, and select open file

    4. Remote Desktop crashes

We are able to log-in back into remote desktop and the work-station without either system crashing but, if the same procedure is done again, Remote Desktop will crash.

    Thankfully,
