Windows 10: remote desktop connection issues.

I have an issue using the remote desktop connector. firstly i'm connecting to a cloud application that is for our accounting system. only this connection is affected. if I RDT into another PC or server in our facility my issues don't exist. my problem is that after I connect to the application it will disconnect me withing 10 seconds. I can reconnect and then 10 seconds or so go by and I'm kicked out. I'm the only one using a Surface Pro in the company using Windows 10 Pro. all other workers connect and work fine all day long.

I'm being forced to go to a regular laptop if I can't fix this and I would rely like to stay using my SP. any suggestions?

Remote Desktop Connection problems


Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):

2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:

3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:

   • Notice that although the tutorial is written for Windows 10, it also applies to Windows 7

Remote desktop connectivity issues

What if the windows OS is in the virtual machine based cloud and I cannot remotely connect inside then how I suppose to set back the local group policy and windows firewall ?

I will certainly help you with the issue you are experiencing in adjusting the resolution on the remote desktop.

This issue might occur due to, when you first connect, Remote Desktop attempts to size the screen according to its default setting. You can adjust this setting within the Remote Desktop client. Adjusting the screen size allows
you to sculpt the desktop display size to better fit your computer's viewing area.

Please follow below mentioned steps to fix the issue:

Step 1: To change the size of the Remote Desktop window:

  Open Remote Desktop Connection (RDC).
  
• 
  Click on the Options button located in the lower left-hand corner of the RDC window.
  
• 
  This will expand the RDC window to display 7 different option tabs.
  
• 
  Click on the Display tab.
  
• 
  In the display configuration section, slide the bar to the left or right to decrease or increase the size of the remote desktop session window.
  
• 
  Click the Connect button.

  Open the "Start" menu and type
  "mstsc" (in the search bar) and then press “Enter."
