Windows 10: Remote desktop connection not working on windows 11 canary

I tried setting up Remote Desktop Connection because I want to use my laptop to use my computer while I am away.I am running into an issue tho. Every time I try to connect from my Windows 7 machine to my main Windows 11 machine, I get the following error:If I try to connect from my main windows 11 machine to my windows 7 laptop it works without an issue.Can someone help?I am running Windows 11 Pro Insider Build 26020.rs_prerelease.231214-1452 on the Canary channel

Remote Desktop Connection problems


Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):
   • Network Location - Set as Home, Work, or Public Network - Windows 7 Help Forums
2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:
   • Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) - Network - Windows 7 Help Forums
3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:
   • IP Address - Locate and Find for Your Computer - Windows 7 Help Forums
4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):
   • RDC - Connect Remotely to your Windows 10 PC - Windows 10 Forums
   • Notice that although the tutorial is written for Windows 10, it also applies to Windows 7

Try the above, post back how it went.

 

Right click on remote desktop connection to select a saved connection from the list of available remote destops does not work in windows 11.

Not sure when this changed but I can no longer select a remote desktop from the list of available remotes desktops in windows 11.

ex.

right click on Remote Desktop Connection icon in taskbar

left click on any of the 'Recent' desktops in the list and nothing happens.

It works OK if I open the Remote Desktop Connection window and select a desktop from there, however that limits it to one remote desktop at a time.

Okay guys need some help here before going crazy...
I am trying to setup a remote desktop connection and see exactly what the logged on user is looking at with out going through Windows Remote Desktop.

Since its local network I don't have any password or want to setup a password.

Any suggestions are appreciated
