Windows 10 laptop that used to connect to my desktop and mini-PC via RDP all on the same wifi network in the house, will no longer find either device.They are in the same house on the same wifi network, same SSID.I cannot connect the laptop to the desktop or mini-PC, and neither of those can connect to the laptop. The mini-PC and desktop can RDP to each other fine. The laptop is on wifi, the mini-PC is on wifi, the desktop is connected to the router satellite via ethernet cable.If I connect the laptop to the router satellite via ethernet, it can connect to the desktop also connected to the

Remote Desktop Connection problems


Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):
   • Network Location - Set as Home, Work, or Public Network - Windows 7 Help Forums
2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:
   • Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) - Network - Windows 7 Help Forums
3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:
   • IP Address - Locate and Find for Your Computer - Windows 7 Help Forums
4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):
   • RDC - Connect Remotely to your Windows 10 PC - Windows 10 Forums
   • Notice that although the tutorial is written for Windows 10, it also applies to Windows 7

Try the above, post back how it went.

 

Remote desktop connection not working

Hi

I am trying to connect my home laptop to a work laptop (my User account is the admin on both laptops) via the Remote desktop connection. I am able to connect remotely under the same network (work wifi), but still trying to find a way to connect when under different networks. It gave me an error message saying that it could not connect for one of these three reasons:

(1 remote access to the server is not enabled

(2 the remote computer is turned off (it runs)

(3 the remote computer is not available on the networked (connected to the wifi)

Remote desktop connection over Bluetooth with no wifi Present

I have a pocket PC device that operates on Windows Mobile 6.1 and a laptop that operates on Windows 10. I would like to be able to use the pocket PC to control the laptop via remote desktop, however, there is no wifi present. Is it possible to establish
a remote desktop connection with bluetooth instead of wifi?
