Windows 10: remote desktop connection to windows 10 pro issue

remote desktop connects to windows 10 shows a black screen for 20-30 seconds then throws an error "failed to reconnect to you remote session, please try to connect again."

- windows 10 pro 1709.

- local firewall is off.

- allow access to machine is enabled.

- rdp port is open, telent works.

- tried different display settings and color depth.

- disabled bitmap caching for connection.

- using admin account to connect.

- connecting from windows 2012R2.

Remote Desktop Connection problems


Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):

3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:

   • Notice that although the tutorial is written for Windows 10, it also applies to Windows 7

I will certainly help you with the issue you are experiencing in adjusting the resolution on the remote desktop.

This issue might occur due to, when you first connect, Remote Desktop attempts to size the screen according to its default setting. You can adjust this setting within the Remote Desktop client. Adjusting the screen size allows
you to sculpt the desktop display size to better fit your computer's viewing area.

Please follow below mentioned steps to fix the issue:

Step 1: To change the size of the Remote Desktop window:

  Open Remote Desktop Connection (RDC).
  
• 
  Click on the Options button located in the lower left-hand corner of the RDC window.
  
• 
  This will expand the RDC window to display 7 different option tabs.
  
• 
  Click on the Display tab.
  
• 
  In the display configuration section, slide the bar to the left or right to decrease or increase the size of the remote desktop session window.

  Click the Connect button.

  "mstsc" (in the search bar) and then press “Enter."

Remote Desktop

Okay guys need some help here before going crazy...
I am trying to setup a remote desktop connection and see exactly what the logged on user is looking at with out going through Windows Remote Desktop.

Since its local network I don't have any password or want to setup a password.

Any suggestions are appreciated
