Windows 10: "Remote Desktop Connection Usage" pops up everytime I start WSL.

Hi,I recently installed WSL with ubuntu distro. When I started it, i got this popup screenshot attached about some remote desktop connection. I read it and wanted to close it. So I clicked on "OK". But it reappeared after 2 secs. and would not go away no matter how many times i close it.This just keeps popping up so long I have WSL running. As soon as i shut WSL down, and click on OK it doesn't appear anymore till I restart WSL.Any help as to why this is happening and how to stop this from happening will be greatly appreciated.P.S: I already tried updating WSL kernel but it didn't help.Thank

Remote Desktop Connection problems


Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):
   • Network Location - Set as Home, Work, or Public Network - Windows 7 Help Forums
2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:
   • Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) - Network - Windows 7 Help Forums
3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:
   • IP Address - Locate and Find for Your Computer - Windows 7 Help Forums
4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):
   • RDC - Connect Remotely to your Windows 10 PC - Windows 10 Forums
   • Notice that although the tutorial is written for Windows 10, it also applies to Windows 7

Try the above, post back how it went.

 

Cannot connect to XRDP running in WSL via Remote Desktop

Hi there!

I have WSL 2 with Ubuntu running with an XRDP server, and Remote Desktop Connection allows me to connect just fine. Unfortunately Remote Desktop Connection has a known bug where it does not relay Ctrl+Alt+Arrow which is a key combination I would like to
use, so I installed Remote Desktop from the Windows Store. But when connecting to localhost:3390, I get the following error after a couple seconds:

Disconnect code: ReplacedByOtherConnection, legacy code: 0x204, legacy extended code: 0x0, activityId: {8ffb7434-9c76-4c1c-a8cc-d23dc8920000}

As mentioned, connecting to the same address via Remote Desktop Connection works just fine.

First I thought maybe this has to do with trying both at the same time, but even after closing Remote Desktop Connection and restarting the PC, I get the same problem.

What can I do?

Hi,

To disable Remote Desktop Connection, please follow the steps below:

• On the Start menu, search for SystemPropertiesRemote.exe
  and hit Enter to open the Remote tab of the
  System Properties options. Type in the password if prompted.
• Under Remote Desktop, you will see three options:
  • 
    Don’t allow remote connections to this computer
    
  • 
    Allow remote connections to this computer
    
  • 
    Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication (recommended)
    
• Select the desired option, and click on Apply, and then
  OK to save the settings.
