Remote Desktop Denying Password after system restore.

I have 2 computer both running Windows 10 pro 64 bit.

    A desktop and a laptop.

On my desktop I just did a system restore.

Before the system restore I was able to remotely connect to my desktop from my laptop using my Microsoft account and password.

After the system restore I am no longer able to remote connect to my desktop from my laptop as it says the log in attempt failed. I can connect to my laptop from my desktop just fine using the same Microsoft account and password.

I know that I am typing my password in correctly and even checking the preview to double check that I had typed it in correctly. Also if I wasn't typing it in correctly or it really was wrong then I would not be here right now typing this message as this post is being created from the same Microsoft account that I use for Remote Desktop Connection.

Below is how everything is configured on my desktop.

Here is what remote settings under control panel looks like.

Enable Remote Desktop is also on in Settings.

The following services in services.msc are running.

    • Function Discovery Provider Host
    • Function Discovery Resource Publication
    • Remote Access Connection Manager
    • Remote Desktop Configuration
    • Remote Desktop Services
    • Remote Desktop Services UserMode Port Redirector
    • Server
    • WorkStation

I know changing the password would probably work but I changed it a lot during this past couple of weeks because of this issue. I should not have to keep changing my password because of problems with Microsoft or Windows 10.

I am asking for Microsoft to fix this issue or for someone to explain to me why it's not working and provide a fix that does not include changing my Microsoft password as I do not want to do that.

    :)

    Windows 10 - Remote Desktop

    Hi,

We will surely assist you with the issue you are facing with Windows 10.
    - Which version of Windows 10 Operating System are you using?

    - Were you able to upgrade to Windows 10 successfully?

I suggest you to refer the below steps and see if this helps.

    • Enable remote desktop in settings
      • Control Panel\System and Security\System, Click "Remote Settings" on the left side

    • Verify my port forwarding settings were properly forwarding to my computers local IP address
      • run "cmd.exe" and then type "ipconfig". Find your IP from that list
    [*]
    • Make sure your firewall settings are open
    • Go to "Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Firewall\Allowed apps"
    • On the left, click "Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall"
    • Click "Change Settings"
    • Find "Remote Desktop" in the list and make sure both "Private" and "Public" is checked.

Let us know if this helps.

    Thank you.
