  1. Remote Desktop Does Not Require a Password When I Login In From One Particular PC

I use remote desktop to access the server for our business. When I access from our home PC or laptop, Remote Desktop always requires a password. But when I launch it from our store PC, which is on the same network and right next to the server, Remote Desktop lets me in immediately without prompting for a password. I cannot figure out why this is - especially since I am not using the same login on the store PC as I do on the server.

Is there a way to force Remote Desktop to require a password regardless of which PC I login from?

    Thanks.

    Chris.

    remote desktop woe`s

Users that are part of the Remote Desktop Users group and have a password set would be able to log into the computer remotely.

Remote Desktop Does Not Require a Password When I Login In From One Particular PC

Only have remote desktop sessions password protected

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Turns out there is a solution that does not require to enable the built in vpn-server.

    • run "netplwiz"
    • uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer."

You now don't need to enter the password and the login screen is bypassed on boot up. If you connect via remote-desktop you'll have to provide the credentials as usual. Just keep in mind that you'll have to reboot the computer after a remote desktop session as otherwise the computer asks the person infront of it for credentials.
