Windows 10: Remote Desktop not working on LAN

Issue:

So I've been working with three individual computers and a server for months now. Two computer are logged into the same Microsoft account except for the one, but I've always been able to remote into all of them including the server. However, I did a cumulative update today and for some reason when I try to do remote desktop, my logon attempt failed. I've looked around online already and tried doing registry edits, group policy edits, firewall configuration to allow remote desktop through, verifying and eventually changing my Microsoft account password, enabling and disabling remote desktop on each individual laptop, restarting every device one by one and then trying remote desktop, shutting down and then trying to remote to each device one by one, trying remote connections from another laptop to my main ones, and even removing certs along with credentials saved from prior good connections. The one variable I cannot figure out is that my laptops are not allowing for me to connect, but I can connect to the server just fine. I'm at the end of my rope in ideas and was hoping someone could help me out. Currently running Windows 10 Pro on all devices except the server Windows server 2012 r2 and on version 1909, build 18363.719. I'm open to any ideas at this point.


Goal:

Get remote desktop credentials to work for moving files from different parts of the house to my main rig.

Please help me with the below details to understand your issue in a better way:

1. Are you using the Microsoft remote desktop app?
   

If you are using the Microsoft remote desktop app downloaded from
Microsoft store then, I suggest you to follow the steps to
fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store.



If the issue still persists with the Microsoft remote desktop app, then you can contact the support team by going to the

link and scrolling down to the bottom and clicking on
Microsoft remote desktop support under the Publisher info.



However, if you are using the Remote desktop connection, which comes pre-installed with Windows 10, then I suggest you to please post your question in the
TechNet forum.

Remote Desktop

Okay guys need some help here before going crazy...
I am trying to setup a remote desktop connection and see exactly what the logged on user is looking at with out going through Windows Remote Desktop.

Since its local network I don't have any password or want to setup a password.

Any suggestions are appreciated

Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):
   • Network Location - Set as Home, Work, or Public Network - Windows 7 Help Forums
2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:
   • Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) - Network - Windows 7 Help Forums
3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:

4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):
   • RDC - Connect Remotely to your Windows 10 PC - Windows 10 Forums
   • Notice that although the tutorial is written for Windows 10, it also applies to Windows 7

Try the above, post back how it went.
