    Errors

When I try to connect from my laptop to my desktop using Windows Remote Desktop Connection I get the error of:

Remote desktop cannot connect to the computer for one of the following reasons:

1)Remote access to server is not enabled

    2)Remote computer is turned off

3)The remote computer is not available to the network

    Things I have Tried

Both computers can successfully ping eachother

Turning off all firewalls has no effect

Router settings have been corrected which enabled the computers to ping eachother

My desktop has windows 11 Pro and the remote desktop enabled

Both computers are connected to router via ethernet

I have tried all of the methods listed in this link

  3. Remote Desktop not working for my Windows/10 machine

I restored a computer to original Windows/10, set it to allow remote access, and still can't access it using Remote Desktop from another machine.

They are both network connected to the same wireless router.

I'm logged into the same Microsoft account on both.

I'm trying to access it using either computername or IP address - neither works.

I CAN successfully run TRACERT using either computername or IP address and both work.

Windows Firewall does not list an application named "Remote Desktop" (still doesn't connect even if I turn the firewall off).

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

  4. Remote desktop not working on Windows 11 Pro machines Errors

Issues with Remote Desktop on Windows 11 after Update 22H2

My error turned into a 204 error eventually.

Not sure if you've fixed it yet, but I was able to find a fix that worked for my machine:

    1. Change port forwarding on the router to 3391
    2. Change port for remote desktop to 3391 in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp - "PortNumber"
    3. Add exceptions in windows firewall by using firewall advanced settings - inbound rules - port. Specify 3391 and do this for UDP (I also repeated this process for TCP, but not sure if it's necessary)
    4. Turn remote desktop off and back on in system->remote desktop.
I also did the fClientDisableUDP trick, but this didn't seem to work until after I did the above steps.

It seemed like the default 3389 wasn't working for me, and neither was 3390, but someone somewhere else suggested port 3391 was working. I gave it a shot and it worked.
