Windows 10: Remote Desktop won't allow me to copy from server to laptop

We just bought a new laptop with Windows 10, I use remote desktop to connect to our Windows Server 2012 R2. I use to be able to connect and then copy a file from the server to my laptop running Windows 7. Now when I try to, all that happens is the computer beeps at me and doesn't copy the file. No error message. I've tried copying to my desktop and to the Documents folder with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

I've used TightVnc for years with no complaints. We've switched at the office to RAdmin, its not free, but works every well, and has great response - better on servers, and desktops than remote desktop also more secure. Site has it listed as $49 USD, I've bought a copy for home use, and no I don't work for or have any stake in it, but thought it was worth the $$.

Unable to access server via remote desktop after router change

Hi,

I manage my home theatre and music servers via remote desktop. Both have wired connections to the router.

All has been well for many years.

Recently our old modem/router was replaced with a new one. There have been no other changes.

While I can still remote into the home theatre server I am no longer able to remote into the music server:

Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer....

What I can do is:

• ping the music server
• bring up shares on the music server on another computer
• access the music server using TeamViewer

Does anyone have any suggestions how I can use remote desktop to manage my music server again please?

 

Restrict one way copy paste from remote server to local machine

How to allow users to paste to their remote desktop session but still not be able to copy from the remote desktop session.(remote server) to their local machine.
