Remote desktop zooming in and staying at 175%, Remote Desktop for Mac into virtual machine

This is a slightly complicated issue, as I'm using RD to connect to a virtual machine of a Windows 10 session on a Mac OS. We will call this the "virtual PC".

I have two different computers that I connect to the virtual PC. One is a Mac laptop, the other is a Mac trashcan style desktop. When I RD into the virtual PC using my main account on that PC, the display zooms in to 175%. I have to then use Mac's version of RD, screen share, to go into the setting of the virtual PC and change it to 100%. When I reconnect via RD, it's fixed, and I am not looking at a giant version of things. This works on the laptop.

However, when I connect from the Mac desktop, I cannot get this fix to stick. I log in, things are at 175%, I try to change with Mac screen share, it log back in and it's still at 175%, i.e. it's close to unusable. Also, when I log into any other account on that machine, none of this 175% zoom stuff happens. Everything looks normal.

Being as this involves two different OS's and a third party VMWare for the virtual machine, is there any advice on how to fix this?

    :)

    • In VM allowed Remote Desktop Connections.
    • From server successfully connected to VM via RDM.
    • Closed RDM connection. Unable to access VM.
    • Turned off VM from Hyper-V Manager.
    • Attempted to restart VM, unable to connect via Hyper-V from message box the following is displayed:

Video Remoting was disconnected. The virtual maching is currently using the Remote X 3D video adapter. A user is currently connected via Remote Desktop Connect to the virtual machine by using Remote Desktop Connection.
    • Connected via Remote Desktop Connection. Attempted to turn off allowing Remote Desktop Connection. VM hung.
    • VM Wouldn't turn off via Hyper-V manager.
    • Shutdown host system and rebooted.
    • Unable to connect via console or RDM.
    • Shutdown host system and rebooted.
    • Deleted VM via Hyper-V Manager.
    • Restored VM system disk from backup prior to RDM usage.
    • Created new VM. the messages in itm 7 above are displayed.
What can be done to recover? Why does Hyper-V retain a broken connection?
