Windows 10: remote drives not showing in Explorer unless reboot

    Have latest W10 updates. For a couple of months now a USB, remote hard drive, or even sometimes my DVD drive, will not show up in Explorer. Plugging in the device gives the 'chimes' that says it is recognized. If I reboot the drive will display in Explorer. Also does not show up in Disk Management when it fails to display in explorer. It's somewhat of a random issue. RegardsGary

    Remote desktop rebooting

    Hi,

    We may need more information about the issue on the remote desktop that keeps rebooting, kindly respond to the following questions:

    • How do you access the remote desktop?
    • Is the process of the connection through a wireless connection?
    We suggest that you check your firewall or antivirus settings if it is blocking the connection between the two devices.

    DVD drive works but not visible in 'File Explorer' (unless disc in drive)

    Tried that and even rebooted the computer but drive still does not show> But I did find something though . . .

    As you can see in image above Drive F (new drive) is not listed but . . .

    In the image below it does list the new drive (BD-RE Drive (Fremote drives not showing in Explorer unless reboot :)

    Confusing ??? I guess I will live with that (not the norm of what has been ) but it works. Unless I can get it to show there somehow too.

    DVD drive works but not visible in 'File Explorer' (unless disc in drive)

    I upgraded to Windows 10 a month or so ago. I now installed a new DVD \Blu Ray drive (LG WH16NS40) as a secondary DVD drive. It works fine but only shows (icon and letter) in 'File Explorer' when a DVD is in the drive. It is listed in 'Device Manager'
    an as I said works fine. I have also tried to upgrade the 'Firmware' on the drive because there are two upgrades but cannot because of bad checksum error. I have also tried compatibility mode but does not help. I have tried several things from researching
    such as uninstalling in 'Device Manager' but nothing seems to work to 'SHOW' the drive all the time.

    Suggestions?
