  1. Remotely Locked PC

While I was logged into my MS account online today first time in a year I saw a device I did not recognize. The location of it was no where near where I am. So I thought I would simply lock it remotely with the message to call me. Well I found that it was a legitimate PC and tried to unlock it remotely. NOT an option. So I now have the PC and it stating to have administrator log in. No problem I thought as I have the password for the account. Only problem is it is asking for a PIN. There is no link at the login screen to allow it to be switched to password. I have a PIN for my MS account and can login with it no problem. Another issue is my MS account PIN uses 6 digits and the PC trying to login after 4 digits entered, and of course it states its the wrong one.

How di I get around this? Is there a Key combo that will allow you to switch from PIN to password required on the affected PC?

    :)

  2. PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval
    • Install system in case
      • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
    • Turn on PC
    • setup HDD
    • run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
      • run realtemp at the same time
    • While in Prime95 test
      • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
      • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
      • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!
    What do you guys think??

  3. Remote lock

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand the inconvenience you are facing in signing in to your device with the PIN authentication.

Provide us additional information to assist you better with this issue:

    1. What happens when you try to sign with the PIN?
    2. Do you have an option to sign in with the password?
    3. May I know what you exactly mean by “Locked laptop remotely with my account”?

As you have mentioned you got it back and you are not able to get into it, I would suggest you to refer the article on
Find and lock a lost Windows device,
please check the section "Lock your Windows device remotely after locating it:" and check if it is helpful to you.

If you are facing an issue with signing into your system using the PIN that you assigned, please refer the article
    PIN sign-in issues
    for more information.

However, if this doesn't resolve your issue and you are facing an issue with logging into your system, please reply to this thread with more information, we will look into this for you.

  4. Remotely Locked PC

Remote phone locking - Lock your phone via text if you lose it!

This is a damn cool feature, basically once you set it up, if you lose your phone you can lock it via text message!I feel much safer now, as I have insurance but you cannot insure your privacy! :smileyhappy:

For reference the default lock code on an unbranded phone is 12345, I suggest you change this. Be warned though, the default lock code could vary if your phone is branded so check with your carrier first!

    • Go to Menu > Settings > Phone >
Phone mgmt. > Security settings > Phone and SIM card >
      Remote phone locking.
    • Select Enable and enter a “remote locking message”. This can be anything you choose, but must be at least five characters in length.
    • Enter a PIN code, you will need this to unlock the phone.
    • Test it by using another phone and texting your phone the “remote locking message”.
