Windows 10: Remotely Shared Drive?

tl;dr

• I have a local PC with shared network drive
• On my Mac, I connect to it through smb, no big deal, ezpz
• I wanna be able to do this while I'm NOT at home, aka remotely

Hey guys!

So I'm hoping to be able to set up my main machine such that I can access it remotely as I do locally, through SMB from my Mac. It's pretty easy to do so, at least locally, on Windows I just add a shared network drive and on my Mac just cmd+k and use smb protocol and it mounts the drive on my Mac, which then I can move, rename files, etc, makes things far easier.

I want to be able to do this remotely, aka from when I'm not in a home network, but not sure how to achieve this or if it's even possible.

Is the remote shared folder mapped? Do you have a drive letter assigned to it?
I'd suggest calling the software developer and asking them.

 

Cannot access shared network drive

I could scream! so much time wasted on this stupid error, as if time is not precious enough!
It probably would work fine if I could see the other computer! But I cannot see the other computer!

  Press Windows +E,
  
• 
  Right click on C: drive.
  
• 
  Select Sharing Tab.
  
• 
  Click on Advanced Sharing.
  
• 
  Uncheck “Share this folder”.
