windows 10 slide show not working

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to the community - by Windows 10 slide show, do you mean the desktop background slide show is not working or the slideshow option in the Photos app?

If it's the desktop background slide show and you are using on a laptop or tablet that is unplugged, by default the power options will likely not continue the slideshow. You can change this option in the advanced power settings:

    • Type Power Options in the Search/Cortana bar
    • Open the Power Options - Control Panel option
    • Select Change plan settings on the power option that is selected for your device
    • Click Change advanced power settings
    • Under Desktop background settings - Slide Show, change the "On battery" option from Paused to Available
    Regards,

    Jaime

  4. Remove Desktop Background Slide show from Power Options in Windows 10

    Background problem

    Hello Aeden,

Thank you for posting your concern in Microsoft community and welcome top the Windows 10 Family.

Please be informed that to help the battery last longer, the desktop background slide show is paused by default when your laptop is using battery power. If you want the slide show to play when your laptop isn't plugged in, change your power plan settings.

Follow the below steps to play the slide show while your laptop is using battery power.

    • Right click on the Start button and select Power Options from the User menu.

    • In the following windows which opens, next to the active power plan, click on Change plan settings.

    • On the Change settings for the plan page, click on Change advanced power settings.

    • On the Advanced settings tab, expand Desktop background settings, and then expand
Slide show. Click On battery, click the arrow, click
      Available, and then click OK.
However, if the above recommendation does not help, I would suggest you to reset the Power option settings in Windows 10 and then set the power plans again according to your preference. Follow the below steps.

    • Press Windows key + X from the keyboard.
    • Choose Command prompt from the context menu.
    • In the command prompt, type powercfg –restoredefaultschemes
      and press Enter.
    • Exit command prompt.

Hope the above information was helpful. If you need further information, feel free to write to sus and we would be happy to help you.

    Thank you.
