Windows 10: "Remove disks or other media" appears after I added an older HDD to my PC

I've been using a 1gb SSD on my PC for a couple of years and found an old 512gb HDD lying around. I connected the HDD with a SATA cable and Windows recognized it in Disk Management, but not in Windows Explorer, and I was also unable to partition/format or even access the HDD.I tried to reboot into BIOS, but it didn't go through after 10 tries and various button combinations. I was going to force a reboot into BIOS holding shift while restarting the PC but now, Windows doesn't load at all. I just get the message "Remove disks or other media. Click a button to restart".I shut off the PC and u

It is possible that your
HDD was unreadable
causing the error message to appear. We recommend that you perform these troubleshooting steps and check if there are any changes:

• 
  Shutdown
  your
  PC.
  
• 
  Unhooked
  the
  HDD
  and
  turn on
  your
  PC.
  
• 
  Reconnect
  your
  HDD
  and
  restart
  your
  PC.
  

If the issue persists, we suggest that you contact your
laptop/computer's manufacturer
for further assistance.

Remove spare hard disk as system disk

There's a possibility that your HDD was detected as OS drive during the Windows installation. To remove your HDD as system disk, we suggest reformatting it. To do so, please follow the steps below:

• Open Disk Management.
• Right-click on your HDD, then select Format.
• On the Format windows, type your preferred Volume label,
  File system (NTFS is recommended), Allocation unit size (leave as Default).
• Check the Perform a quick format option, then click
  OK.

Note: Please back up your files before reformatting the drive.
