Windows 10: Remove The Grey Line That Separates Taskbar From Show Desktop Button

The subject is pretty much straight forward. How can I remove that little grey line (or make it invisible) that separates the Taskbar from the Show Desktop button? I still want to use that button to show the Desktop, so I want to keep that button enabled. But I want to make that grey line invisible somehow.

Where's the setting for that?

Error code 0x80029c4a

To replace the old taskbar shortcut, first remove it from the taskbar.



Then right-click on the desktop and select New > Shortcut.



Copy and paste this line for the “location”:



"C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe"



Now right-click on the new desktop shortcut and choose “Pin to taskbar”.

Is your Desktop Blank?

If so right click your Desktop, choose 'View - Show Icons'

If you cannot see your Desktop, you might be in Tablet Mode:

Click the notification icon on the bottom right of your Taskbar

If you cannot see the Tablet Mode Button, click 'Expand'

If the Tablet Mose button is blue, click it so it becomes grey

 

There's no setting. If you ask in the Customization section someone may be able to point to something deep in the system you can change...

I tried to edit the post to see if I can transfer it over there, yet I cannot find that option; I'm assuming the administrators of the forum are the only ones that can do that.

I dont think you can remove the separator. If it bugs you, remove the desktop from the tray and use the Windows key+D

 

Yea, I've tried that before. I prefer to have that button there still, because sometimes I'll only be using my right hand on the mouse and my left hand is just laying here relaxing on the side, not on the keyboard. I'd prefer to just move my right hand slightly towards me and to the right to click that button, instead of raising my left hand to do that keyboard combination. I'm not saying that I'm that lazy or anything, but you know how when your left hand is just all relaxed and you're primarily using your right hand for the mouse, then you'd prefer to keep your left hand just sitting there all relaxed on the side of the chair or whatever, you know?

 

Windows 10 Creators edition will bring themes to the Windows 10 Store. Having a theme that hides the grey bar or uses something better is an easy possibility.

Hopefully someone has an app that does it, or some registry edit?

Hi, I want to remove the grey vertical line that separates the Taskbar from the Show Desktop button. I want to remove/make it invisible, like how it was in Windows 8.1.
I do not want to disable the button itself; I still want to left click in that corner of the screen to go to the Desktop.

It's part of Windows. You hover over or click the gray line to quickly show your desktop and minimize all open Windows.

 

I don't know if it can be removed. If you are online it is there so you can click on it to go to your Desk Top. Every Windows has had one.
