    Remove unwanted software from program files\windowsapps


    I have uninstalled CandyCrushSaga and other software items via Settings/Apps/Uninstall, but large numbers of files for CandyCrushSaga still exist in WindowsApps. I am unable to delete them. In fact WindowsApps contains almost 4 GB of files, most of which are never and will never be used. On a machine with a small drive 32GB. this is disastrous. This is not a problem on some other laptos I own. Any suggestions?

    Unnecessary apps in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

    I see a lots of versions of the same app in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. These are apps that I don't even have installed. Overall they are taking up about 10GB.

    1. How can I remove these apps completely?
    2. Or can I keep only the most recent version?

    The storage sense
    suggested here     or disk cleanup of system files has not helped.

    Getting full access to C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

    Hey x509,
    IIRC ... it's not actually a corrupt entry, but a special permission/condition (Exists:WIN://SYSAPPID) for Users(Pc-Name\Users) and shouldn't be removed. If you must change permissions on the WindowsApps folder and/or sub folders/files .... I suggest you get familiar with ICACLS first and save the current WindowsApps Folder / Sub Folders / File permissions to a acl.txt file, so you can restore them in case you break something (which is very likely when messing with permissions)

    Remove Extra WindowsApps Folder

    I can't recreate your issue as I only have one hard drive.

    But I would suggest searching the registry for the path to the folder (D:\WindowsApps?)

    I found values containing "Program Files\WindowsApps in values under these keys, so it may be around there.

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx\CodeIntegrity\Roots\1

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx\PackageVolumes\1
