    Hi there. I have had some problems with windows 10 recently. I am unable to access or change any files that are related to anything to do with an administrator related file. I cannot open applications such as Task manager, anything to do with Microsoft office, OneDrive, and more. An error message appears a couple of minutes later with the message: 'Windows cannot cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item'. I have looked up fixes for this message, and it is a bug that can be fixed by using administrator access. It seems to

    We suggest creating a new local user account and delete the previous account. Check the article below and follow the steps given.

    Create a local user account in Windows 10

    Follow the steps below to delete user account.

    • Press Windows + X, select the Control Panel.
    • Click User accounts.
    • Click Manage other account.
    • Enter administrator account password if prompted.
    • Click the account which you want to delete.
    • Click Delete the account.
    • Restart PC.

    Removing/changing Administrator

    Hi Mike,

    Before assisting we would like to know:

    The account you are speaking about is it a Microsoft Administrator Account or a Local Administrator Account?


    • If it is a Microsoft Administrator Account then Password cannot be removed.

    • In order to remove the Password Protection for a Local Administrator Account you would need to Enable the Build In Administrator Account. This will help you in removing the Password.

    • To Enable the Build In Administrator Account Please follow the below steps:

    • Press Windows Logo + X

    • Click on Command Prompt (Administrator).

    • Type: net user administrator /active: yes

    • Hit Enter

    • Now you will be able to remove the Password, to remove the Password please follow the below link:Redirecting
