  1. Removed Bluetooth Device but it stays in the list.

Hey guys and girls.I had paired my Bose QC2 to windows but also paired it to my flaptop. The problem with this headphone is that you can only pair it to 2 devices, and I needed it for my phone. This is what i normally would do without any problems on Win10 countless of times. So I cleared the Bluetooth device list in my headphone by holding the power button, after it got cleared i am ready again to pair 2 new devices to it. Now I went to the Bluetooth settings and clicked on my paired headphone and selected "remove device", after some seconds of it trying, it responded back with "failed to remo

  2. Unable to remove device from bluetooth list

    Hi Margaret,

Bluetooth pairing errors can be associated with both hardware and software issues. The
Remove Device option can be missing due to incompatible Bluetooth drivers that should be installed first before you can successfully connect it to your PC. Other possible reasons are outdated hardware firmware, numerous data shared between
devices, and interference or proximity issues.

For us to further isolate the concern, we will be needing answers to the following questions:

    • What is the exact error message that you received when trying to pair the Bluetooth device on your Windows 10 PC?
    • Are there any wireless devices that can cause interference on the pairing process?

As an initial step, let's make a setting to show all hidden devices. This method is useful in detecting unknown devices that can block the pairing action. To do this, kindly follow the procedures below:

    • Press Windows logo + X.
    • Click on Device Manager.
    • Click on View.
    • Click on Hidden Devices.
    • Search for the Bluetooth device.
    • Right-click on the Bluetooth device and click Uninstall.

After performing the steps above, restart your PC and try pairing again. You can also check this article:

  3. Unable to remove device from bluetooth list

I am new to windows 10. I tried to pair a fitbit via bluetooth. Bluetooth detected the fitbit but when I tried to pair an error occurred. the instructions told me to remove device from bluetooth list, restart laptop and try again. However, when I follow
instruction to remove device from the list (ie click n hold icon then select remove) there is no option to remove - only gives me option to pair, which just gives me same error message. Can anyone tell me how to remove device from bluetooth list pls?

Removed Bluetooth Device but it stays in the list.

    Cannot use bluetooth device

1 Pairing is done in Settings, Devices
1.1 You click on Add Bluetooth or other device
    1.2 You choose Bluetooth
1.3 If there is a pairing button on the bluetooth device itself then you press that now. You need to check the instructions for your bluetooth device to see how to do this - several automatically go into pairing mode when they switch on, others have a button that needs to be pressed for, say, 5 seconds.
1.4 The computer detects all available bluetooth devices and you select yours from the list. If yours is not on the list then Windows could not detect it.
1.5 It connects - pairing includes connecting
1.6 The computer sounds a buzz in the earpiece then displays Your device is ready to go and you click on Done
1.7 The device is shown in the devices list below the subheading Audio and it shows it as connected
1.8 The device should also appear in Control panel, Sounds, Playback tab
1.9 The device should also appear in Control panel, Devices & printers
1.10 {I just paired some bluetooth earphones as I typed so I could make sure these notes were correct} You use a music player and the sound comes out of the bluetooth earphones

2 If this is not happening for you then go to Contol panel, Devices & printers
2.1 Right-click on the device & select Remove device
2.2 You can now try pairing from scratch again
2.3 Several other users have reported that only removing the device with Bluetooth command line tools - BluetoothInstaller allowed them to re-pair again [see xzion's guidance below]
2.4 Yet others reported that only the KeithM code or Bungee's guidance worked for them [see below]

3 Where is this all going wrong for you?
[I assume we are definitely talking about bluetooth headphones/earphones. I understand that WiFi ones do also exist.]
