I decided to transfer my windows 10 home RETAIL channel license to a new laptop, 1. before I bought a new laptop I removed my old device from my Microsoft account and uninstalled windows from the old laptop. The activation status on the old laptop showed that license was linked to my Microsoft account. Having license linked to Microsoft account I assumed I will be simply able to transfer it after reinstalling on new laptop2. Bought a new laptop and scrapped old one and reinstalled windows on new laptop but now I am stuck with error 0x803FA067 on my new laptop activation page while trying to

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:

1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.

How can I transfer my retail copy of Windows 10 Home from my old Microsoft account to my new Microsoft Account?

Hi All,

I need to transfer my retail copy of Windows 10 Home from my old Microsoft account to my new Microsoft Account. I have access to both accounts. I would like to consolidate all to the new account moving forward. Both the old and new MS account are on the same PC, so no change of device is required.

I purchased my copy of Windows 10 Home from a retailer and have the physical box, key and USB. (Windows 10, Core edition, Retail channel).

I have seen suggestions to switch to a local administrator account, however I do not have this option under Settings > Accounts > Your Info.

My goal is to move windows 10 to the new MS account and then upgrade to Microsoft 365 subscription.

Unable to remove old administrator account.

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you want to delete one of the old administrator accounts from your computer. If you want to save the data from the old Administrator account, I would suggest you to copy the data from the old user account from
C: Users\<Old User Account> and move it to your backup drive or folder in a different location, before deleting the account.

I would also like to know what exactly happens when you try to remove the old Administrator account from your PC.

To delete an Administrator account from your PC, you will have to login to another user account with
Administrator access as User Accounts cannot be deleted through a Standard account.

Once you have logged into your new Administrator account, you can follow the steps mentioned below to remove the old Administrator account from your PC. To do this, by

1. Login to the new Admin User Account that you want to keep.
2. Tap on 'Windows + I' on the keyboard.
3. Click on 'Accounts'.
4. Now click on 'Family & other users'.
5. Select the old Administrator account from the list.
6. Click on 'Remove'.
