Removed + replaced hard drive, now can't open any programs, multiple error messages, access...

Laptop is an ASUS F510U Notebook PC, used for almost 5 years with few to no problems. My laptop died unexpectedly last week when the power cord failed. I'd been told it was the power connector in the laptop so removed the hard drive for a backup, since the laptop wouldn't boot, then put it back in and eventually got a new charger. The laptop turns on fine, boots up fine, but applications and files aren't working. It opens file explorer and does show the C drive, but files either don't open or the program crashes immediately. I'm getting repeated "Access Denied" messages on files in OneDrive...

    :)

  2. External Hard Drive "is not accessible"

    Hi Ridhwan,

Sorry for the delayed response. Let me continue to assist you further.

The issue here could have been due to fact that the Drive I:\ is encrypted or a flush drive. This forces the computer to not recognize the format and displays the error message. I suggest here to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

    • Press Windows Key + letter 'X.'
    • Choose 'Disk Management.'
    • Right click on the External drive and select 'Change Drive letter and Path names.'
    • Rename the drive letter i.e. remove letter I and say you replace it with letter
      J.
    • Restart the computer and check the issue status.

Hope this helps. Please reply for further queries on this.

  3. Location is not available F:/ is not accessible. Access is denied. External hard drive

    Hi,

Most of the time, when your external hard drive shows that error message, it suggests that you don’t have the privilege of accessing to the disk partition. We need to get a permit to take ownership of the drive. Follow the steps below:

    • Open File Explorer.
    • Right-click your hard drive, then select Properties.
    • Go to Security tab.
    • Click Advanced, then select Edit.
    • On the Owner tab, modify the ownership of the specified account.
    • Click Apply, then OK.
Update us with the outcome so we can provide further assistance.

Windows 10, Occasional Error, No Hard Drive, after Hard Drive Replacement

    Hi,

System corruption can cause issues detecting your computer's hard drive. For us to properly investigate on your concern, we'd like to confirm the following information:

    • On which cases do you receive the startup error?
    • Aside from replacing the hard drive, have you made any significant changes to your device prior to this happening?
    • Have you tried plugging in the replaced hard drive to another computer to check if the same thing occurs?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

We will be waiting for your reply so we can move forward to resolving your query.
