Windows 10: Removing an Application from Compatibility Administrator

Hi! So I'm trying to run an old game 2007 in Windows 10, and I've noticed that Windows will always apply a fix in order to always look for the application exe, and elevate it to administrator mode.You'll notice that by simply changing the application name, Windows no longer requires administrator mode for this application. I shopped around on google and found that I need to use Compatibility Administrator Toolkit in order to view the Application Compatibility Database, this is where I found the entry for my gameThe problem is that I cannot disable administrator mode for this entry. How to always allow administrator permissions for a specific application

Windows 10 gives users the ability to customize how they run applications. We suggest that you follow the steps below on how to grant administrator permission to a specific application:

• Click the Windows icon on your Windows 10 screen that will open the list of applications. Right click on the specific application that you wish to have an admin permission, click the
  More and click Open file location.
• A new window will open to the location of the program. Right-click on the program and click
  Properties from the pop-up menu.
• In the Properties window, click the Shortcut tab and then click
  Advanced.
• In the Advanced Properties window, check the box next to
  Run as administrator and click OK.
  
• The program will now open in administrator mode when you click the shortcut from the Start menu. Repeat the steps above for other desired applications.

How to remove Run As Administrator from an app

3. What is the specific error code/error message you’ve received?

However, you may try the below suggested methods to remove Run as administrator from the context menu.



Method 1

Note: Please ensure you’ve logged in as an administrator before performing the below steps.

1. Right click on the program’s shortcut or exe file and choose
   Properties.
   
2. Switch to compatibility tab and Uncheck the box which is next to “Run this program as an administrator”
   
3. Click on Apply and OK.
   
4. Repeat the same steps for the other application for which you wanted to remove Run as administrator from the context menu.
   

If you do not see any changes after trying Method 1, you may try Method 2.



Method 2

1. Click on Start, type in Control Panel.
   
2. Go to System and security group of settings > Click on
   Security & Maintenance and expand the options under Security.
   
3. Scroll down and see the Windows SmartScreen section.
   
4. Click on Change settings(You’’ need admin rights to make these changes)
   
5. Toggle the options to Warn before running an unrecognized app, but don’t require administrator approval.
   
6. Click on OK and check the status of the issue.

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID (windows 10)

Thank you for the update and I apologize for the delay in response.

It must be difficult when things do not work as expected.

If the issue persists, I suggest you to check whether the applications are compatible or not from the manufactures website. If these applications are compatible, I suggest you to run the application in compatible mode and check if it helps to
resolve the issue.

Please follow the below steps:

• Right click on the Program
• Click on Properties
• Click on Compatibility tab
• Select Run this program in compatibility mode and select the operating system accordingly from the drop down list.
