Windows 10: Removing and Changing an administrator in Windows 10

My brother gave me his computer when he upgraded. How do I remove him as an administrator and make myself the administrator?

The account you are speaking about is it a Microsoft Administrator Account or a Local Administrator Account?

  If it is a Microsoft Administrator Account then Password cannot be removed.
  
• 
  In order to remove the Password Protection for a Local Administrator Account you would need to Enable the Build In Administrator Account. This will help you in removing the Password.

  To Enable the Build In Administrator Account Please follow the below steps:

  Click on Command Prompt (Administrator).

  Type: net user administrator /active: yes

How to change main administrator on Windows 10 for HP?

Hello,

Kindly try the below steps to change the account type from Admin to Standard account and check if this helps.

• Press Windows key + X.
• Select Control Panel.
• Click on User accounts.
• Under make changes to your account, click on
  Manage another account.
• Select the account which you want to change.
• Now click on change the account type.
• Select Standard
  and click on Change the Account Type to change the account type.

To enable the built in admin account, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check.

• In search type "cmd" and right click on the command prompt and open as Administrator (Elevated command prompt).
• In the elevated Command Prompt, type the following command and then press Enter key.

Net user administrator /active:yes, close the Command Prompt.

• Restart PC, then you will be able to see Administrator account.

To hide the Admin account, use the below command:

net user administrator /active:no

Removing/changing Administrator

My mother who passed away last year had a nice Toshiba laptop that I inherited. While she owned it the hard drive failed w/in a year and a half and the company she used to replace/fix the issue made themselves administrator keeping me from making certain
changes to it. How do I remove an administrator & make me the administrator of my own computer.

It runs on Windows 10. Please help.

Well, now as I dig a little my computer does list me as an/the Administrator... how on earth am I prohibited from removing password protection? I get to where in the control panel that this issue is managed, click on disallowing password requirement but
when I try to click on save changes its soft & not highlighted giving me a message that change settings are currently unavailable... ugh.
