  1. Removing .BAK suffix from a file name

How can I change .bak extention file to other file type? I intend to extract a .bak extention file but find it difficult since I need to change the extention name first. Any help please?

    :)

    .bak file

    Hi Jan

A .bak file is a generic file extension, it can be a backup of any type of file on your system . . .

So opening that file will depend on what type of that file was before the file extension was changed to .bak

Is there another file extension on that file as well as the .bak, like xxxxxxxx.xxx.bak if so, remove the .bak and you should be able to open that file normally

Otherwise, do you know what type of file that was previously, where is that file located and what is the name of that file?

    file name suffixes

    Good afternoon

Some time back i managed to change the option to exclude the file type as a suffix to file names. "All of a sudden" it has simply reverted to suffixes in file name. I lost the notes to correct this.
Having read through proposed fixes elsewhere in the forum i was unable to get Windows to obey me. Very frustrating for a rebel who likes to do things his own way.......
When i untick 'file name extensions' it simply ignores me and immediately resets the parameter. How come windows has this cussed (in the cantankerous usage) attitude?

A permanent fix would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    ...

you get the idea. ( too lazy to put it in a for loop and test it.

or just open regedit and remove all the fileX from that key.
