Windows 10: removing file extentions with special characters

Discus and support removing file extentions with special characters in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I have downloaded data but the files have additional extensions with special characters.     I have downloaded data but the files have additional extensions with special characters. I need to remove this but rename does not work as it doesn't recognise the special characters.the files names are as follow -MERRA2_100.tavg1_2d_slv_Nx.19890112.nc4.asciiPS[023][116118][322323],SLP[023][116118][322323],T10M[023][116118][322323],U50M[023][116118][322323],V50M[023][116118][322323],time,lat[116118],lon[322323]need to change it to -MERRA2_100.tavg1_2d_slv_Nx.19890112.nc4.asciiNeed to bulk change the aboveThanksSarien

    Special characters in file names

    Hi, since this morning (out of a blue) any of my files that contains special character (Norwegian letters) or files that stored in a folder that contains special character can not be seen in the preview pane, only an error message "File not found" is shown.
    Is there any setting to allow special characters in the file names again, or was there an update that disabled it now? Do I need to rename or my files and folders if I want to see them in the preview pane?

    Special characters

    I say little wrongly it as fault, its more feature. Normal characters are 7-bit and special characters are 8/16-bit long. So more you use special characters, shorter the message can be.
