Removing the system display language from the input languages WIN10-64

    Hello,

I have my display language set as English. In addition I have Finnish and Russian inputs installed. Since the Finnish keyboard can do anything the English one can, I have no need for English to be given as an input option, and I'd like to be able to switch between just Finnish and Russian inputs with ALT SHIFT. I belive this was the case for a long time but suddenly US English reappeared in the bar. The only thing I've changed recently was the non-Unicode language from Russian to Finnish.

How do I leave just Finnish and Russian inputs in the input options? I've only managed to make Finnish the default so far.

    Thank you!

    :)

    Problem with input languages (changing)

I did understand your Point, that UK is appearing and it should not and you have no means to "delete/remove it".
So, the conclusion is that something is mismatch on your system.
There is a bad entry in System and you have to correct it.
Lets go step-by-step, to see if system override the bad entry.
You have 2 Screen Languages installed. Go to each of the Languages, in Control Panel, choice "Options" and make sure there is no UK Keyb there.
If you do not see any UK Keyb, then move your GR Language UP and remove the US Language. (I assume you can read GR Display Language)
If system does not allow to remove US language, then go to "Override Display Language...." and choice "Use List". Change also the settings for "Welcome Screen,NEw Account,...." and copy the settings (it means to put GR as default).
    Reboot
Now, go again to that Control Panel to the option "Override for Windows Display" in Advanced Settings and see which languages are available there. It should be Present GR and one more Language , probably UK, and this one is your Native OS Language.

Please tell me what are your needs in terms of DISPLAY Language (for Menus and so on), if you need GR and EN, or only GR or only EN. And which Keyb you need, US rather UK (I do not know which is the difference) and GR.

  3. Uninstall primary input language

    Hello,
I'm using english-US as display language, but german (DEU) as keyboard input language.

I would like to uninstall the english (ENG) keyboard since the input language switches to english when I hide the unneeded language bar.
It was very simple under win7, but here I did not find the way (remove is disabled). Can you suggest a solution?

    Thanks, Marco

Tooltips displayed in the wrong language

Although my version of Windows is set to English and the GPU-Z "Tooltip Language" appears as "System Default (English (United Kingdom))", the tooltips are appearing in the language corresponding to my system locale (or possibly keyboard layout), not the actual system language. I frequently change the keyboard layout and date format (to match the clients I'm working for and the language I'm writing in), but the system language never changes (and software is supposed to run in that language).

I can manually select "English (United States)", but this basically makes it impossible for me to select the "correct" language (i.e., UK English), because it doesn't appear in the list (other than as "system default" - but is then ignored). Obviously it makes no difference to me if it's in UK or US English, but people with other language combinations might have a problem.

It seems the routine that populates the language list in the options is (correctly) determining the system language, but the routine that actually generates the tooltips is (incorrectly) reading the system locale instead of language.
