  1. Removing unwanted .wav file properties

I went on line and asked how, the answers are all the same but don't apply somehow... again.I recently bought a car with a CD player and decided to burn a custom CD for it. What can I say... I'm old.I followed all the instructions. Here's the problem, when I drag and drop a .wav file from the folder to Windows Media Player burner, a different name comes up making it nearly impossible to tell half of the files I loaded from each other on the burn list, so I can rearrange them. It appears as if somehow while transferring the files from my old computer to the new one, something added RIFFINFO etc

    :)

  3. Windows Explorer: Cannot "Remove the following properties"

    Windows 10. Under automatic update.

There are two files in the folder: Side-1.wav and Side-2.wav. These were created from one LP.

The File Explorer shows, that the properties are not equal. The Side-2 file have values set for "Title" (equal to 1) and "Contributing artists" (equal to Side) . The Side-1.wav has blanks set for these properties.

I want to modify the values of the properties of Side-2.wav so that they are equal to blanks as well.

There is very clear information in this forum as how to do this. However; the File Explorer refuses to do so: I select the option "Remove the following properties" but the window that follows does not open up a drop-down selection, where I can tick off e.g. the "Title".

The File Explorer is opened as administrator. From the command-prompt the attrib command shows nothing else than the archive-flag A.

Does anyone have a suggestion of what is going on here?

FYI: In my PC there are very many similar folders, but only in a few do I have this problem of different properties between the two wav-files from the same LP.

    Regards,
    ChG

    Removing unwanted .wav file properties

Metadata Tagging and Changing Detail Properties on WAV files

    Hi Joel

Yes this has always been a headache for wav. file users. I believe it is simply due to the size of wav. files. Back when they were developed (partly by MS) they were for very small sound files (start-up - alerts etc.) and not expected to be used for large
audio files so a tagging system was never developed. However, information can be added to the various fields in WMP but this does not stick to the file of course.

Converting the files to mp3 would mean adding the data there subsequently in most cases so it may be best to stick with what you have already.

As others have suggested there are limited tagging options for wav. by using the 'Audacity' audio editing suite. That would mean quite a lot of work for you, but I'll explain further if it is of any interest. In the meantime here is the link to the Audacity
info pages (the program can also be downloaded there) and below that a 'properties-details' box of a wav. file saved with audacity - somewhat limited but maybe of some use!

    Cheers, Ric.
