    Hi!
    I've downloaded the Windows 10 files to my external hard drive. I noticed that the size of the disk changed, so when I didn't need the Windows installation files anymore I opened Disk Management and remove the partition which had the installation files. I did not format the whole external drive to save my files, but it didn't work. I can't see my files and also I am not able to do anything besides format this external drive.
    Could someone advice? I really need to recover my data.

    I have Western Digital Passport 1 TB external Hard disk. It has got corrupted. When I connect to my Window 7 machine, my external hard disk rotates but my machine does not recognize it.I have checked External hard disk with other working cable as well but still it is not working . I have tried to recover data with Hiren boot cd ,. On hiren boot machine it is recognizing the disk. I can copy some data in form of dd format with data rescue but not able to recover data with this DD format file. I have used different softwares to recover dd file but all are giving error. Please suggest how can i recover my data.

    How can I recover the data from hard disk?

    Hello Friends, yesterday while working on my PC suddenly all of my data lost. I was downloading something from the internet and the system suddenly got shut down, after that when I restarted the system there was some error and the system could not start properly. I really want that data as its very important to me. Can anyone suggest me about how to recover the lost data from the hard disk?

    Well, I'm sorry to hear that it's a WD My Passport that failed on you, @tomhenry ! *Frown Removing Windows 10 Install Files From an external Hard Disk and lost data :(
    I'd recommend you to try using a different USB cable with it and see if that will help your system to detect it without it disconnecting.
    I'd also suggest you to go to Disk Management and see how the drive is listed there. It won't hurt to check up on the health and SMART status of the HDD by running the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from the WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics.
