Renaming Bluetooth Devices Windows 11 taken out?

Hi there? I have a Lenovo Windows 11 PC. I'm wondering is there a reason why the ability rename a Bluetooth device was taken out for Windows 11? I've Googled how to do it and there is no possible way to do it.Navigating to the Bluetooth opens the settings app and clicking the 3 dots does not allow me to go to properties of the device, just disconnect, and remove. Going through the Control Panel and clicking the devices options forces me back into the settings app. I found a way to get around it through right click and selecting "open" in control panel. This let me finally get to my Bluetooth d

  2. cannot rename bluetooth device on Win 11

None of these worked for me as nothing happens when we click on the Bluetooth device in the Settings app (either in the "Bluetooth & devices" section or "Bluetooth & devices > Devices" section. Clicking on the three dots button in front of the device name only gives two options "disconnect" and "remove device".

The Control Panel solution also takes one to the Settings app when we click on the Device and Printers.

    SOLUTION:

However, I found that I could rename my Bluetooth device in the Settings app by following the steps given below.

    1. Open the Settings app.

    2. Select System from the left pane.

    3. Select Sound from the right pane.

    4. Click on the device, that you want to rename, from the list under "Output" (at the top).

    5. At the top, below the device name, click the Rename button.

    6. A new dialog will open where you could rename your device.

    7. After renaming the device, click on the Rename button in the dialog to confirm.

    SUGGESTION:

Please allow the users to rename a Bluetooth device right from the "Bluetooth & devices" section as that's the most convenient way. Clicking on the device should open a device details page where one should be allowed to rename the device. Preferably, the three dots button in front of the Bluetooth device name should list the option to "Rename". Thanks!

  3. cannot rename bluetooth device on Win 11

Please try the following steps to rename your Bluetooth earbuds:

Click on the Start button and select "Settings" (gear icon).

In the Settings window, click on "Devices" and then select "Bluetooth & devices."

In the list of paired devices, find the ZVOX AV30 earbuds and click on the three dots (...) next to the device name.

Select "Rename" from the drop-down menu.

Type in the new name for the earbuds and press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to save the new name.

If you do not see the option to rename the device, you may need to update your Bluetooth drivers or check for any Windows updates that may be available.

Please let me know how it goes.

Thanks Renaming Bluetooth Devices Windows 11 taken out? :)

Renaming Bluetooth Devices Windows 11 taken out?

    rename bluetooth device

Unfortunately, the name change only lasts as long as I have the computer on. Once either re-booted or totally turned off and restarted, the original names are back. I followed all the steps outlined in the link you provided. This must be a Windows 11 problem because even if the renamed Bluetooth item is off and out of the area, Windows 11 still lists the item with its original name after rebooting or restarting, so it can't be 're-reading' from the device. My guess is that once an item is paired, Windows 11 stores that name somewhere that remains immutable until the device is removed from Windows 11 and that when Win11 starts up, it pulls from this catch the named items as they were originally read during pairing.
