Windows 10: Renaming c:\Users\jeger to C:\Users\Jack

    Renaming c:\Users\jeger to C:\Users\Jack


    I did this renaming according to the method shown in several places on the internet:

    1. Added a local user account named jg, signed out of jeger and signed into jg.

    2. Using file explorer, renamed the folder c:\Users\jeger to C:\Users\Jack.

    3. Using regedit, changed the path in the profile from C:\Users\jeger to c:\Users\Jack.

    4. Restarted and selected the original account that I renamed. This produced an error saying "C:\Users\jeger\OneDrive\Desktop was not found..."


    Apparently something didn't get changed. jeger is only found in the registry under the URL which I cannot edit.

    Can anyone help me?

    Renaming C:\Users\<user>, then saving to it

    Hi,

    I have a local Windows account.

    I did the following (after logging in):

    1. Rename C:\Users\MyName to C:\Users\SomeOtherName
    2. Move files to it
    3. Name it back to the original C:\Users\MyName
    Now I can't access my files, even after trying to rename again.

    What should I do?

    Renaming C:\Users\<user>, then saving to it

    Windows will not let you rename your own profile folder while you are logged on.

    What exactly did you do, and why?

    After rename User's folder, C:\User\previousname unavailable

    Hello everyone, i need help, how to fix after renaming the User's folder, the C:\User\previousname\Desktop & C:\User\previousname\Document unavailable when i open file explorer. Please assist me in this situation.
