Reopening apps and folders on startup

I’ve always wanted Windows to do is to bring up the desktop I had—all the programs and the folders I had running—when I last shut down.

Wouldn’t you know, that’s exactly what Windows10 is supposed to do! So much so that if I try and Google “Windows 10 reopening programs on startup” (one of the default Google suggestions that comes up while typing “Windows 10 openin…”) I’m met with a slew of links to pages describing how to DISABLE programs from opening at startup, and hardly any that discuss the opposite!

So going to one of those pages, I thought I could find the answer to my question. It directed me—if I wanted to DISENGAGE apps and folders from automatically coming up—to go to my Settings/Accounts/Sign-in options and disengage the Sign-in Options button labeled: ‘Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device and reopen my apps after an update or restart.’

I figured if the button was engaged that I would have what I wanted. Well, it’s engaged and Windows Start up or Restart doesn’t bring up the program/folder configuration it had when I Shut down.

How do I get Windows to bring up the apps and folders I had when I last shut down?

Oh by the way, are there any good technical reasons (not just being anally clean) why anyone would NOT want this to happen?

I can't enable windows store app to start with windows.

    The step I folowed are

    • Open task manager
    • go to startup tab
    • select the app
    • enable
and when I reopen it's set at disable

Split Steam app folder between 2 HDD?

As the title suggests I want to find out if there's a way I can split my steam app folder on to 2 drives, specifically an SSD that I will be putting my OS and most used games and apps and a regular HDD for everything else?
