Windows 10: repair disk useless?

I always figured a repair disk contains a sort of "mini operating system", enough to give some access to the system if Windows10 has crashed.

After facing the blue screen at start-up, I tried to start up with my repair disk.

I can hear that the PC accesses the DVD, and I would have expected some basic screen turn up, but instead, it attempts to start up the normal Windows10, which of course is impossible, as it has crashed.


I am really wondering what is the idea behind having a repair disk, unless I'm doing something wrong.

So, after startup I have in the blue screen the options: F1 enter Recovery environment, and F8 Start-up settings.

After entering F1, it tries to restart WindowsAsus logo showing up, which of course fails and comes back into the blue screen.

After entering F8, I get into another blue screen that gives me 9 options to select.

Each of the options jump back immediately to the previous blue screen except option 4: save mode, and option 9 disable automatic restart. Both options make access to repair DVD and then try to start up Windows10 Asus logo showing up, which of course fails, as this is the reason I'm using my repair disk in the first place.

Can anyone tell what i am doing wrong?

What should I have as backup-a RECOVERY disk or a REPAIR disk? Are these the same or different?

Got the free upgrade to Windows 10 and I need to start making some kind of a Repair/Recovery disk.

Are these the same thing? Are they different?

Can someone list the steps needed to make this/ these disk (s)?
