Windows 10: Repair external drive in Windows 10/11

Hello, I have a Toshiba external drive that always worked fine, but at some point something happened and now the load times are ridicously slow while opening files or going throught the file explorer. Many times the drive simply don't load and my pc gets frozen with even the mouse without working. The only solution to unlock the pc is disconnecting the drive directly.I tried moving some files to my internal disk and they seem to work fine, but the load times while doing it for even a single picture is excessive or it directly gets frozen, and since I have many gb of data I was wondering if the

I was downloading a file attached to an email and Windows 10 told me it could not access my external drive. It suggested I "repair" the drive. How do I do that?

Windows 11 File Explorer not showing external drive
