  2. HELP! Windows 10 automatic repair couldn't repair PC. Details below

It won't let me go to my desktop as it always redirect to this.

    repair install help [IMG]
    As
I cannot go download to my laptop since it wouldn't let me go to the login page nor the desktop, I download the media creation tool file to my other laptop and transferred it to my USB. Here's the error on Software Restore "The instruction at 0x00007FFD01946B8C
referenced memory at 0x0000000000000008. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program".

Do I use the option "Use a device" in that section and use EFI USB Device and activate the tool there?

    MSVCRT
.DLL is the Microsoft Visual C Run-Time Library (MSVCPP.DLL being the C++ library) for Visual C++ version 4.2 to 6.0.
I would remove Microsoft Visual C++ Run Time, and re-download and reinstall it. See if that resolves your problem.

  6. How many drives do you have? When first trying to get 10 to go here I wasn't aware of the need to unplug the two additional storage/back up drives and later after several blank screens and returns to the desktop sometimes with error screens I just happen to look over the clean install guide linked in my sig by the way and saw the caution about having any non OS drives plugged in.

Even with the upgrade install to repair a broken 10 you will want to be sure to have any extra hard drives internal or external and even flash drives and anything else with onboard write to type memory discontinued to avoid seeing boot files and temp installation folders end up in the wrong places! That will cause the hang on a blank screen after passing the logo screen on the first restart as well as bring you back to the desktop even sooner.

Now this one was an intentional crash due to already having 10 set up in a dual boot with 7 and the 7 install has the 10 app remaining. When going to click on the 10 app wondering why after a full month the 3rd email or other notification was seen the download began again.

    repair install help [IMG]

But it wasn't going to be able to succeed since two other storage drives are now one temporary to replace the previous 5yr. old drives. And as expected you saw the outcome of having the other drives plugged as one likely cause.

Now if the initial upgrade to 10 there was activated your next move may be calling it a day and settling on seeing a full clean install of 10 in order to get a fresh working copy of Windows running again. If you had unseen clutter in the system registry carried over to the first upgrade making that buggy it may be another cause preventing the repair install or something you did in between may be at fault.

Another thing to note is that the "Exception code: 0xc0000005" error is far more commonly seen for any number of reasons such as a corrupted registry, possible bad memory. malware, DEP or Data Execution Prevention, and even a case of a mismatched video driver! If there was a problem with one of the updates not going on well such the 10 installer looking one driver while another was needed that's how you could end up seeing a crash as well.

This is why the question of whether or not the first upgrade was activated or not since the clean install will likely be the working solution. One similar upgrade problem for someone upgrading from 8.1 to 10 running into the "Faulting application path: C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\SetupHost.exe error" was advised to simply wipe the entire drive clean and start fresh with a totally new primary partition! That was seen at the MS answers site. No word since that was posted on August 9th.

  9. I have to agree with simrick there that providing some details on what steps you have taken so far would be helpful for troubleshooting purposes. Some report the need to remove their antivirus software which have it's own firewall preventing the upgrade detecting 10 as some type of intrusion. That can't be ruled out despite other factors that can hamper things.

Perhaps you should explain what is going wrong, and why you need to do the reset?

Please remove any 3rd party anti-virus, and 3rd party firewalls.
Disconnect all external devices, including any extra hard drives.

Follow Step One here, selecting the option to keep files.

If you are getting crashes still, or can't complete this, it might be best to start a thread in the BSOD section, being sure to describe in detail what the problem is, what you have done so far, and follow the instructions to upload the necessary files they need for troubleshooting.

I assume your 500GB of games is info/files and not the games themselves? You can reinstall the games right?

Follow Step One here, selecting the option to "keep files".

If I am not understanding you, and this is not the option you're looking for, let me know and perhaps we can get some other members in here to have a look at your situation. Your first post said you crashed, so I assumed you received an error code or some kind of BSOD.

    Ok.

Any way to grab an external hard drive and create a system image before you start messing around with your system? That way, if things go bad, you can simply restore the image and be back to where you started.
