    REPAIR MBR AFTER LINUXMINT


    I have the following:

    • Thinkpad Edge E540
    • Samsung 256GB SSD
    • 8GB DDR3
    • Windows 10 Pro up to date

    I had to do a job in Linux and had set up a dual-boot setup which worked fine. I don't need Linux Mint any longer and had to recover drive space. So far, so good.


    When the laptop boots, it goes into a GRUB prompt.


    To prevent the GRUB, I do F12 at boot and choose the windows boot loader.


    How do I fix the MBR now, to get rid of GRUB and straight into Windows?

    Programs not working


    In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
    Are you able to follow them?
    In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

    Hi Martin,

    To assist you better, I would like to know how exactly you are trying to repair the MBR. Is it using the repair disk?

    I suggest you to use the Windows 7 disk and try to repair the MBR. I suggest you to enter the recovery environment using the Windows 7 disk and choose Command prompt and enter the following commands.

    bootrec /fixmbr

    bootrec /fixboot

    bootrec /scanos

    bootrec /rebuildbcd
